TOPNOTCH EXPERIENCE

When I was still a student, I had different reasons for trying to excel in my academics. During my elementary years, my parents told me that they would pay me every time I would get a perfect score in my quizzes and exams (but they didn’t really pay me actually). Throughout my high school days, I aimed to excel in my studies because I wanted to be famous and be top of my class. In the early days of my college life, I was driven by the thrill of competing with my classmates who were highly intellectual. I really had no clear purpose of why I was studying. I just wanted to have high grades and finish my course. Things eventually took a turn when I developed a personal relationship with God.

There was actually no drastic change with the way I study, but there was a clear difference in why I study. My motives changed and I developed a deeper purpose for my efforts. Since then, I committed to give God the glory for every achievement in my academics. The fruits of my labor were seen when I graduated. By God’s grace, I was able to achieve Magna Cum Laude in my BS Nursing course. And as I took our board exam, I was included in the country’s top 10. My clinical instructors didn’t even think that I was capable of achieving it. I myself could hardly believe it. But nothing is impossible with our God. I offered my best to God and He chose to bring glory to Himself through me. Indeed, if you delight yourselves in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).
